Find yourself still talking about “O” faces or chalking it up to a “bad case of the Mondays?” Mike Judge, former Garland resident and writer/director of such cult faves as Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill, is coming to the Office Space 10th Anniversary Reunion at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin this Sunday at 8 p.m.
Office Space came out in 1999 and was met with little to no fanfare at the box office. It didn’t find its audience until its release on DVD, when it was heralded as the defining film of the corporate generation and even went on to become one of Fox Home Entertainment’s biggest sellers. The film takes place in Las Colinas, where much of it was shot.
Judge often floats Texas references into his projects. King of the Hill takes place in Arlen, a fictional town somewhere between Garland and Arlington, and some speculate that Beavis and Butthead is set near Dallas. We hope Judge’s most recent film, Idiocracy, isn’t taking aim at any of our electrolyte loving friends.
Additional attendees and ticket information can be found here. If you’re interested in a road trip for the occasion, we would act fast. Tickets are apparently going quickly. Oh, and don’t forget your flair. There’s a 37-piece minimum.
